What to do in the event of a power outage...

  1. If you experience an outage, check with your neighbors to see if their electricity is off.

  2. Next check your breakers or fuses in your home.

  3. If there is still a problem, call Guthrie County REC at (641) 747-2206 or (888) 747-2206. It is helpful for after-hours dispatch service that you have your account number or map location number available.

PLEASE NOTE:  Does someone in your family depend on electronic life support equipment?  If so, they can be placed on our Emergency Medical Registry and will be given priority, if possible, when an outage occurs. A physician's statement is required. People who depend on a life-support system should have a back-up power source.
